The main objective of CIEYSD Circus drama is to reduce taboo fear, misconceptions and ignorance reduce stigma and discrimination related to HIV AIDS,RH ,HTP,FP, Gender inequality and work for the promotion of children and reproductive health issues and justice

Since very recently CIYSD has made a shift from direct massage transfer to forum theater an Approach which allows audience to take an active part in all activities of the theater. Forum theater also use participatory methodologies and stimulate community dialogue and give the community members the opportunity to reflect on issues and concerns related to their lives values ,attitudes, behaviors and choices in the context of selected thematic issues ,the aim is to bring about behavioral change taking note of the social capital and socio cultural dynamics where the social and cultural coherence of the society the norms, and the values that govern interactions among people and the individuals in which they are imbedded ,are explained . What makes circus art different from other organizations and/or institutions is that it applies a multi media approach in that it conveys messages to the public and facilitates community dialogue via the drama, music, short plays, and poem integrated with the circus art shows. To day many institutions and organizations value the circus art and its importance. Particularly local authorities and NGOs are acknowledging the potential of circus art for social mobilization and promotion Script writing is the pillar of conducting a good theater which results in awareness creation and community dialogue. It requires an understanding of the historical social, cultural, economical and legal barriers that impede the realization of expected result on the focus areas of HIV/AIDS, Stigma, discrimination, and gender inequality fight.

Children and youngsters, members of the defense force, students, prisoners, higher leering institutions community members, government officials, etc are audiences of the shows. And the shows would be are presented Stadiums ,Kebele Halls market places ,in schools compounds major roads ,palaces , In prison administration camps, parade show, and of course in formal settings during national ,historical and religious holidays .3 Problem statement
In violence against girls and women causes more death and disability among women in the 15 to 44 age. And the violence and discrimination increase women�s risk of HIV Infection and un wanted pregnancy .It is also observed that in Ethiopia millions of girls and women are Victims of HTP of various kinds such as Early marriages , Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) that speeds up the rate of maternal and child mortality. Hence taking note of the above major issues this project intends to contribute for the remedy of the over all problems of boys and girls at reproductive age by increasing the level of awareness on SRH,FP and empowering girls and women to know and claim their sexual rights through implementing Forum theater/theater for development .

Meal Service - Circus as the segment of modern sporting activity, it requires to spent energy while some one is exercising. It is obvious then to replace the spent up energy as to make the body strong and hence sustain the circus art. With this understanding CEYSD annually provides food support for 250 children and youth .How ever this program is highly affected by the global food crisis strongly influence the smooth flow up of this program. Hence we have forced to provide the meal service four times a week which was six times previously.

Transport Service - CEYSD annually provides transport allowance for 250 children and youth. .The increased transport tariffs following the tremendous increment of petroleum oil price, which is global in nature, forced to reduce the number of children benefited. The transport allowance has been provided only for children coming to the center from remote areas.

Educational Support - We advocate that circus is a means for children and youth to achieve their final goals . This shows how much circus gives due emphasis to the importance of education and to the promoting education. The type of Educational support include Day clothes, exercise book, pen and pencil, tutorial session, school fees, counseling, exploring free scholarship for those unable to join government higher education and vocational training are the major support included under this section. With the help of all these support, children were able to compete, successfully follow and score good marks in their education equally with children from relatively better families.

Medical Service - As prevention strategy circus in Ethiopia gives safety and security education to all performers regularly .Nevertheless when mild accidents or sicknesses occur we provide medical support to the children .
 

We consider that capacity building as a concept goes beyond the conventional perception In a broader sense Capacity building implies the ability to manage the current change, resolve conflicts that emerge with in the Organization entities and beyond, manage institutional pluralism, enhance coordination, foster communication and ensure that data and information are shared. We also believe that capacity building should be carried out as a continuous exercise and linked to organizational learning. In this regard CIRIYSD is annually engaged in building the Human , technical, material and financial capacity of the organization in general the main branches and the associate circus in particular

Ensuring Gender Justice and Equality - In the advent of 21st century, addressing the issue of gender is not only considering the matter of equilibrium but it goes beyond that to encompass human right and development in its wider spectrum. By taking this fact and the day�s development reality in to consideration, CEYSD is striving to have gender justice in its entire projects and programs . Our age old partner Oxfam Novib is also strongly working with the office to maintain maximum gender balance at all levels of the organization. With the Financial support of Oxfam Novib We have also developed gender policy which binds the organization to apply and implement the objectives strategies and activities stipulated on the policy document

The first thing in CEYSD�s program implementation is educating the public about Gender Issues using the art as a tool.

Mainstreaming HIV/AIDS in work place - Circus in Ethiopia for Youth and Social Development as an exclusively youth focused local NGO; mainstreaming HIV/AIDS would enhance its capacity and hence positively contribute to the socio-economic development of the nation.
Currently CIEYSD in close partnership with Stop Aids Now (SAN- Ethiopia) and age old partner Oxfam Novib are redefining HIV/AIDS policy and strive for its practical Implemetati
And for practical intervention we have established HIV/AIDS resource center at the head office having different informative and educative documents such as research findings broachers and will be used as a resource center to disseminate up to date information to the staff. The support was obtained from support of SAN Ethiopia project.
